Economic Entanglement is a BIIRGS Eye View™ Talk exploring how everyday economic participation can connect people to wider systems, interests, and outcomes they may not have chosen or even be aware of.

Where does our money go after a purchase is made? What interests might it support beyond the product or service we intended to buy?

In this 60-minute session, participants will examine the relationships between consumer spending, corporate ownership, and corporate political activity, including how organizations engage with and seek to influence public policy.

The discussion looks beyond individual purchasing decisions to consider the wider systems surrounding them. How visible are the political and economic relationships connected to familiar brands? And how much meaningful choice do consumers have when ownership and influence are concentrated within larger corporate networks?
